Where Does Zkittlez Come From?
Zkittlez was created by a skilled group of breeders in California, from where it spread all along the West Coast.
It is now one of the most popular strains among both growers and smokers.
When Did Zkittlez Strain Come Out?
Zkittlez first emerged in 2016, and it has slowly gained popularity since then.
When it was first introduced in 2016, Zkittlez was awarded first place in the Emerald Cup.
Who Created Zkittlez Strain?
Zkittlez was bred in a collaboration between two skilled breeding companies – 3rd Gen Fam and Terp Hogs.
The breeders crossed Grape Ape, Grapefruit, and another secret strain to get Zkittlez.
Why Is It Called Zkittlez?
Zkittlez gets its name from its unique smell and taste that are very similar to the hugely popular candy, Skittles.
In fact, the taste is so much like Skittles that the other names that Zkittlez is known by are Skittles, Island Skittles, and Skittlz.
Is Zkittlez Strong?
Zkittlez is a medium-strength strain that has THC levels that lie in the middle of the range.
Zkittlez has THC levels between 13-15%, depending on how it’s grown.
If you consider that some strains have THC levels that can be as high as 30% while others have THC levels that are low as 1%, you’ll have a good idea of Zkittlez’s potency.
What Strains Are Similar To Zkittlez?
Zkittlez is an Indica-dominant hybrid strain, so if you’re looking for similar strains, then you need to find strains that are Indica-dominant hybrids too.
These are some strains that will give a high like Zkittlez:
- Gelato
- Wedding Cake
- Gorilla Glue
- Northern Lights
How Does Zkittlez Make You Feel?
Zkittlez gives you a head high, boosting your energy and focus, which then fades into a deep, full-body relaxation that will leave you spaced out and at peace.
Zkittlez is predominantly an Indica strain which makes it ideal for afternoon use.
The mental stimulation should help you focus on a difficult task, and by the time the relaxing effects kick in, it should be evening, and you can crash somewhere comfortable.
Zkittlez is great for medical use as well, and it can help with a host of problems like stress, insomnia, and headaches.
Is Zkittlez Indica Or Sativa?
Zkittlez is a hybrid strain that is 70% Indica and 30% Sativa.
The precise genetics are a mystery as one of the three parents used to breed the strain remains a secret known only to its creators.
But Zkittlez is definitely an Indica-dominant strain.
What THC is Zkittlez?
Zkittlez has average THC levels that vary between 13-15%.
Is Zkittlez High in CBD?
Zkittlez has low CBD levels that are around 1%.
Is Zkittlez Considered Top-Shelf?
Zkittlez is generally considered to be a top-shelf strain.
But remember that not all the Zkittlez you smoke will be top-shelf.
If Zkittlez isn’t grown properly, then it’s not going to be top-shelf.
Even if you buy Zkittlez from a dispensary, it might not have been grown properly, so it won’t be top-shelf.
The only sure way to get top-shelf Zkittlez is to grow it yourself or to buy it from a dispensary that has a good reputation.
Why Is Zkittlez Hated By Many People?
Zkittlez is hated by some people because it’s one of the most popular strains on the market.
The strain’s popularity means that it’s always one of the most bought strains in dispensaries.
To meet this huge demand, dispensaries stock different varieties of Zkittlez, and many of these varieties are poorly grown, and some aren’t even Zkittlez at all.
So, when you buy Zkittlez from a dispensary, you can never be sure what you’ll get.
That’s why I would recommend that you grow the strain yourself rather than buying from a dispensary.
Where To Buy Zkittlez Seeds?
Zkittlez is a popular strain, so you can find its seeds being sold at any dispensary.
You should only buy Zkittlez seeds from a seed bank that has positive reviews from other growers.
Make sure that the seed bank also gives you a germination guarantee.
I would recommend that you buy Zkittlez seeds from the following seed banks:
- Seedsman
- ILGM
- Weeds Seeds Express
Who Has The Best Zkittlez Seeds?
It’s hard to say who exactly sells the best Zkittlez seeds.
It’s better to make sure that the seed bank you buy from provides quality seeds.
If the seed bank has a good reputation in the growing community, then you can be reasonably sure they’ll have good quality Zkittlez seeds.
Here are a few seed banks that I’ve personally bought from that stock high-quality Zkittlez seeds:
- Seedsman (5 Zkittlez Seeds for $38.42)
- ILGM (5 Zkittlez Seeds for $99)
- Weeds Seeds Express (6 Zkittlez Seeds for $57.94)
- Crop King Seeds (5 Zkittlez Seeds for $65)
Is Zkittlez An Exotic Strain?
Zkittlez is not an exotic strain.
An exotic marijuana strain is rare or has certain unique features that most other strains don’t.
Zkittlez is easy to find, and its features are similar to those of most other strains.
How Does Zkittlez Taste?
Zkittlez tastes just like a bag of Skittles.
You can taste grape, berry, lemon, and strawberry when you inhale this strain.
The fruity sour-sweet taste is loved by everyone who’s used it, which is why Zkittlez is widely regarded as one of the most delicious strains of all time.
What Does Zkittlez Smell Like?
Zkittlez has a strong fruity fragrance that is very much like the smell you get when you open a bag of Skittles.
Why Is Zskittlez So Popular?
Zkittlez is a hybrid mix of Indica and Sativa that is heavily weighted towards Indica. It’s perfect for people looking for a relaxing high but who want to get some real work done before that.
The taste of Zkittlez is simply wonderful, and its smell is just as pleasant.
Zkittlez is a strain that’s popular among growers, even though to get good yields from it, you’ll have to put in some effort.
Zkittlez Grow Guide
Zkittlez is a marijuana strain that requires a moderate level of care and attention to give good yields.
The strain will grow well both indoors and outdoors.
The plant grows well in hydroponic environments, so you can get great indoor yields by using either the Sea of Green method or the Screen of Green method.
Zkittlez has a compact growth pattern that means the lower foliage will need to be pruned periodically to keep the plant growing properly.
Zkittlez mostly grows like other marijuana strains, so I would suggest that you take a look at our step-by-step guide to growing cannabis.
Zkittlez Grow FAQs
Here are the answers to some questions that growers usually ask about Zkittlez.
How Much Does Zkittlez Yield?
Zkittlez produces yields of around 450 grams per plant when it’s grown outdoors.
When grown indoors, the strain can produce around 350 grams of pure bud per square meter.
Is Zskittlez Difficult To Grow?
Zkittlez is considered to be a moderately difficult plant to grow.
If a grower has a reasonable amount of experience growing marijuana, then they shouldn’t have any difficulty getting great yields from the strain.
Just remember to prune the lower foliage occasionally to ensure the plant keeps growing properly.
How Long Does Zkittlez Take To Grow?
Zkittlez takes between 7 to 9 weeks to flower fully.
If you’re growing Zkittlez outdoors, then the strain will be ready for harvest towards the end of September.
You should switch the plant to the flowering stage after about 8 weeks of growth.
Many growers have used the Sea of Green method to get high yields from Zkittlez.
How Tall Does Zkittlez Strain Grow?
If you’re growing the strain indoors, then Zkittlez will reach a height between 80-100cm.
When grown outdoors, Zkittlez grows taller, reaching heights between 100-150cm.
Zkittlez is a medium height strain, so you won’t have to worry about topping it too often.
How Tall Does Zkittlez Autoflower Get?
Zkittlez autoflower is much shorter than the photoperiod plant, which doesn’t reach taller than 100cm, regardless of whether you grow it indoors or outdoors.
Is Zkittlez Mold-Resistant?
Zkittlez is highly resistant to mold and other natural threats like mildew and pests.
So, it can flourish well in reasonable humidity.
The resistance to mold means that Zkittlez can be grown outdoors without having to worry about losing yields.
But keep in mind that no strain is completely immune to mold, so make sure your humidity levels aren’t too high.
When Should You Harvest Zkittlez?
Zkittlez should ideally reach harvesting time by the end of September if you’re growing it outdoors.
If you’re growing the strain indoors, then Zkittlez should be ready for harvest after 8 to 9 weeks of flowering.
That said, these times are just estimates.
It’s better to see the color of your plant’s trichomes to know exactly when you should begin harvesting buds.
If the trichomes don’t have any color or are clear, that means it’s too early to harvest. When the trichomes take on an amber color, that’s the time when you should harvest your plants.
How Does Zkittlez Compare To Other Strains?
Now let’s see how Zkittlez compares to other popular strains.
Zkittlez vs. Runtz
Runtz is a hybrid of Zkittlez and Gelato, so both strains share many traits.
Both these strains are delicious and sweet, tasting sweet and sour like tropical fruits. The smells of both are candy-like and sweet.
Runtz is a much rarer strain than Zkittlez, and it’s pretty hard to find.
You’ll feel a cerebral high with both strains, followed by a feeling of deep relaxation.
However, Runtz has a much stronger effect because its THC levels are around 5% higher.
Runtz is much easier to grow, and even beginners can get high yields from the strain.
Growing Zkittlez is a bit harder, although both plants give roughly the same yields.
Zkittlez vs. Gelato
These are both delicious, sweet strains that are a delight to your taste buds.
They both taste strongly of berries and candy, although Gelato has an added pungency to the flavor, giving it some extra character.
As both Zkittlez and Gelato are Indica-dominant hybrids, they have similar effects on smokers.
Both are great for a sharp head high, followed by a deep relaxation.
However, the relaxing effect is stronger and longer-lasting with Zkittlez as it has a higher Indica-Sativa ratio than Gelato.
With Gelato, the head high dominates.
Gelato gives a much harder hit with THC levels of up to 26%, much higher than Zkittlez’s 14%.
If you’re looking for a milder buzz, then you might want to stick with Zkittlez.
Gelato is one of the stronger strains and should be used with some caution.
Both strains require a moderate level of growing experience to produce good yields.
Gelato can give higher yields, especially if it’s grown indoors.

Zkittlez vs. Gorilla Glue
Zkittlez and Gorilla Glue are both Indica-dominant hybrids, ideally for kicking back and relaxing after a tough day.
Gorilla Glue is much more potent, though with THC levels in the top of the range, so if you want a lighter high, then Zkittlez is a better choice.
Gorilla Glue has a strong earthy, pungent taste with a sweet aftertaste, while Zkittlez is a fruity, sweet strain.
So, the flavors of both strains are very different but equally delicious.
Both strains grow well both indoors and outdoors, although Gorilla Glue produces higher yields on average.
Gorilla Glue is better for outdoor growing because its trichomes have a natural water-repellant covering. So, you won’t have to worry about rain spoiling your crop.
Zkittlez naturally grows shorter than Gorilla Glue, so if you have limited growing space indoors, then it’s a better growing option.

Zkittlez vs. Blue Dream
Both these strains have delicious, fruity flavors that you’ll love.
The effects of the strains are markedly different, however, with Zkittlez being better for relaxing (because of its strong Indica heritage) and Blue Dream for a cerebral high (because of its Sativa genetics).
Blue Dream is stronger than Zkittlez, but not by much. Both strains lie around the middle of the THC range.
So they’re both good for a mild high.
Both strains are great for both indoors and outdoors growing, although Blue Dream grows much taller.
So, if you’re growing Blue Dream, you’ll need to keep the plant’s height under control by topping it.
Blue Dream can produce larger yields and growing it is much easier than Zkittlez, which requires some extra care from growers.

Zkittlez vs. Wedding Cake
Both these strains are Indica-dominant hybrids with Indica and Sativa genes in roughly the same proportion. This means that you’ll get almost identical effects from them both – a burst of mental alertness, a boost in creativity, followed by a happy, laidback phase.
Zkittlez is the more appetizing of the two with its sweet-sour fruity flavor. Wedding Cake’s taste is earthier and more pungent, with only light notes of sweetness in the end.
Wedding Cake is much more potent, with THC levels near the top of the range. So, while the effects of both strains may be similar, the intensity of the effects will be much more powerful from Wedding Cake.
Both these strains will give reasonable yields if they are tended with some extra care and attention. They have similar flowering times, and both have average maximum heights.
However, both plants have dense foliage and will grow best if you do some pruning on their lower branches to keep the air circulating well.

Zkittlez vs. OG Kush
OG Kush has an earthy, musty fragrance that’s easily distinguishable from the fruity sweet smoke of Zkittlez. OG Kush’s taste is deep and earthy, while Zkittlez has a sharper sweet-sour fruity flavor.
OG Kush is the stronger of the two hybrids, with the Sativa-heritage dominating. So OG Kush is perfect for focusing your mind and engaging in creative pursuits.
Zkittlez has a lower THC level, and the Indica parentage is more pronounced. So, you can expect a strong soothing and relaxing effect from the strain.
OG Kush is much easier to grow, and it has a much shorter flowering time than Zkittlez. If you’re looking to get yields in less time and with less effort, OG Kush is a better growing option – hands down!
